The Icom IC-M430 is a compact VHF marine radio designed for modern vessels. Its slimmer body and sleek flush-mount design sit cleanly beside your MFD, and the wide-angle color screen stays readable in sun or darkness. If you're upgrading an older helm radio or outfitting a new build, here's what makes it stand out.

A Bright Color Display and Safety Built In

The IC-M430 is the first* color display in its class, and the wide viewing angle keeps it easy to read from any position at the helm. Three display modes (Light, Dark, and Night) let you match the screen to conditions, and a one-touch button switches between Day and Night modes. Backlit keys keep operation confident after dark.

On the safety side, the radio delivers 25 watts of transmit power and includes built-in Class D DSC, with a dedicated distress-calling button and direct calling. Other safety-minded features include:

  • VSWR detection that alerts you to antenna problems
  • Loud 25 W audio with hailer and foghorn functions
  • Active noise canceling to cut background noise
  • Dualwatch and Tri-watch for monitoring Ch. 16 and/or a call channel
  • Weather channels with alert function

Slim, Flush-Mount Installation

At 202 x 82 x 52.6 mm (8.0 x 3.2 x 2.1 in), the IC-M430 fits where bulkier radios won't, with enough clearance behind it for proper cable management. The MFD-style mounting screws the radio directly into place, and snap-on body covers hide the hardware for a clean finish. It's a natural fit for side pod installations on center console hard tops. If you prefer a conventional install, an optional flush mount kit is available.

Second station? The optional CommandMic™ gives full remote control from up to 60 ft (18.3 m) away and supports intercom between stations. It's ideal for sailboats that need a second control position at the helm.

The included hand microphone mounts to the front panel, or to the rear using the optional OPC-1000 extension cable. An optional 90° L-type adapter helps prevent connector damage.

Connected to Your Electronics

The IC-M430 installs plug-and-play on an NMEA 2000™ network and also supports NMEA 0183-HS, so it shares data with your other marine electronics. Paired with the Icom MA-510TR, it can send an individual DSC call straight to a selected AIS target.

A built-in GNSS (GPS) receiver with an internal antenna handles positioning. If the radio is mounted inside a cabin or other enclosed area with limited satellite reception, the optional UX-241 external GNSS antenna solves it. The radio is also IPX7 waterproof, with an AquaQuake™ water draining function. Priority and normal scan, and support for 4-digit channels, round out the feature set.
