Why It's Worth It
Rather than wiring the control panel directly into high-current contactors, the Black Box sits in between as a semiconductor switch, taking the low-current signal from the panel and converting it into the precise activation needed to run the thruster motor in either direction. If this component fails, the thruster won't respond properly to panel commands even if the motor and wiring are otherwise fine — making it a common diagnostic and replacement point for unresponsive thruster systems.

Use
A direct replacement for the Black Box on Lewmar's Gen 1 TT140 2.2 and higher tunnel thrusters.
