Lewmar Automatic Battery Safety Switch — 12/24V (589034)

An automatic power isolation switch that connects thruster battery power only when the control panel is active — and disconnects it automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity, even if someone forgets to switch the panel off.

Why It's Worth It
A bow thruster with constant battery power is an accident waiting to happen: a child leaning on the joystick, a guest sitting on the control panel, or an inadvertent bump while maneuvering can activate the thruster unexpectedly. The ABS solves that by keeping the main thruster battery circuit open until the control panel is energized — no panel, no power, no accidental activation. The 10-minute auto-shutoff is the other key feature: if the panel is left on while guests are aboard or crew is working on deck, the switch disconnects the battery automatically after 10 minutes of no thruster activity. A large red emergency button provides an immediate manual cutoff if needed.

Important Compatibility and Installation Notes
This switch requires 5-wire connecting cables (not the standard 4-wire cables) to communicate with the thruster control panel. It is not compatible with the 140TT 2.0kW thruster. Must be installed within 72" of the battery per Lewmar's installation requirements. Compatible with Lewmar Gen 2 single and dual controllers (589222 and 589223).

Use
Install inline between the battery and the thruster, within 72" of the battery. Wire using 5-wire connecting cables between the control panel and thruster. Once installed, the switch monitors panel activity and manages battery connection automatically — no manual switching required during normal operation.
