Why It's Worth It
Conventional wheels eat up valuable cockpit real estate, especially on twin-wheel layouts or smaller helms. The Lewmar Folding Wheel solves that with a fast-action hinge: twist the composite handgrip, fold the wheel down, and walk right through the space it used to occupy. At anchor for the weekend or moving around the helm while underway, you get the room back without giving up a real steering wheel when you need one. At 36", it's sized for mid-size cockpits — a step down from Lewmar's 40" kit — and it's a fraction of the cost of a custom-built solution, which is why it shows up on both production boats and as a retrofit upgrade.

Use
The two-turn, buttress-threaded, split-spoke design folds and unfolds with a simple twist of the handgrip, secured by a locking system when deployed. The dual hub version fits a standard Lewmar tapered steering shaft or a 1" parallel steering shaft, and it's compatible with all Lewmar steering systems.
