Maretron DCM100-01 DC Monitor
A non-intrusive DC electrical monitor that puts battery voltage, current, state of charge, time remaining, and more on your NMEA 2000 network — without cutting wires or installing inline shunts.
Why It's Worth It
Traditional battery monitors use shunts that require cutting the main negative wire, installing a large connector, and running a sense lead back to the monitor — a disruptive installation on any boat. The DCM100's Hall effect current sensor slips over the existing cable without breaking the connection at all, which makes retrofitting dramatically simpler and eliminates a potential failure point in the main current path. The battery monitoring algorithms go well beyond a simple voltmeter: by tracking load current, charging current, and battery temperature simultaneously, the DCM100 calculates true state of charge and time remaining with the kind of accuracy that accounts for the real, non-linear behavior of marine batteries rather than estimating from voltage alone.
The same module works equally well on non-battery sources — alternators, solar panels, wind generators — and on DC loads like windlasses, inverters, and refrigerators. One DCM100 per source or load; stack multiple units on the network to monitor every major electrical circuit on the boat from a single display.
Use
Connects to the NMEA 2000 network via standard Micro-C. The Hall effect current sensor slips over the wire being monitored without cutting it — position it as close to the battery as practical for the most accurate reading. The temperature probe mounts under a battery terminal bolt. The voltage sense cable connects to the battery terminals via the included fused harness. Configuration requires a Maretron DSM250, DSM410, USB100, or IPG100 — program battery type, capacity, and charge efficiency factor for accurate SOC calculations. Mount in any orientation in a dry or damp location away from engines.
