The Wavespring self-tailing jaws automatically adapt to a wide range of line diameters, so you're not fighting the winch to get a clean tail every time you trim. A low-friction feeder arm smoothly transfers the line into those jaws, and internally, loads ride on permanently lubricated, smooth-running stainless steel roller bearings that won't seize under high load. Size 50 and smaller winches in this range share the same pawls, so spares stay simple if you're running multiple winch sizes on the same boat. The one-piece bronze center stem supports stainless steel main shafts and gear spindles for real strength under load.
